The Birth of a Clown - Back StoryChiPiliNa is an educational character created by Kimberly Newton (AKA Kimba) — an eco-cultural educator, artist, writer, and peace program designer who has been crafting immersive, play-based learning experiences and content for children and youth since 2001. She holds a Master’s in Education and is recognized for her unique peace-education approach that empowers children through emotional intelligence, cultural connection, and joyful exploration. Through her work as founding director of Conexiones Institute (2001–2016), Kimba developed eco-cultural day camps, after-school programs, childcare sites, and language-immersion experiences across Arizona, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Costa Rica with the help of dozens of teachers and parents. She continues to mentor early childhood educators, parents, nannies, and childcare providers in applying her replicable methods that blend music, humor, nature, language, creativity, and play into everyday learning.
As an independent artist and performer, Kimberly brings her educational philosophy to life through ChiPiliNa. Whether on stage, at community events, or in playful roaming performances, ChiPiliNa embodies Kimba’s lifelong commitment to fostering joy, empathy, and curiosity in every child she meets.
